PneumaCare Ltd., a Cambridge UK-based company providing clinicians with respiratory diagnostic and monitoring equipment using novel 3D-imaging technology first developed by the University of Cambridge, has completed a £2.0m funding round.
The financing was led by new investor Sud Investments, with participation from existing shareholders Cambridge Enterprise, Cambridge Capital Group and members of the Cambridge Angels group.

Cambridge First - New funding boost for PneumaCare
Duxford company PneumaCare has received a new funding boost to help it develop a monitoring device for sufferers of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to use at home.
It is one of eight companies selected to receive funding worth up to £100,000 from the East of England Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI East).
The news comes just days after the company announced a successful £2 million financing round.

PneumaCare wins two Medical Futures Innovation Awards
A device developed by a University of Cambridge spin-out company, which uses video motion capture technology to diagnose and treat lung and respiratory disease, won two top prizes at the Medical Futures Innovation Awards ceremony in London.
PneumaScan, a device developed by PneumaCare Limited, came out on top in the respiratory category, and was also named as having the best business proposition of all the winners.
PneumaCare's products enable clinicians to evaluate a broad range of patients, many of whom are unable to use current techniques for monitoring lung function.
Using PneumaScan, patients can be assessed while breathing naturally or performing exercises without the need to directly interact with or contact the monitoring device.

PneumaCare Ltd. develops non-invasive assessment and monitoring systems that enable doctors to assess and monitor lung function of babies, intensive care patients, and the elderly. Its PneumaScan, a structured light plethysmography (SLP) system assesses and monitors lung function by scanning motion capture, as well as measures the movement of the chest and abdominal wall during breathing for modeling the thoraco-abdominal volume. Cambridge News - 3D scan is good news for patients
A new device using technology developed in the computer game and film industries will help patients at Addenbrooke’s. The hospital is the first in the world to use the device which monitors breathing without any contact with the body. Until now it has been impossible to monitor premature babies, young children, or chest injury patients accurately without using invasive procedures such as placing a tube in their airway.
